THE BANYAN
Ong and Min brought the beggar they'd defeated to an in in Jin Yu. They treated his injuries and he agreed to teach Ong his Dog Bashing Stick Technique. Showing him the basics, he struck at Ong with his stick then told Ong to do the same to one of his own men. Ong did not master the technique but expressed appreciation and showed the beggar Blade of the Dancing Fox, which he mastered using a stick instead of a sword.

The beggar told them his name was Ma Zhangfu. He asked them what they were doing in the temple and they explained Min had been looking for some techniques. With further discussion he learned she was interested in a technique called Phantom Phoenix Strike, and told her that he'd heard rumors the technique was written upon the body of Lady White Blade.

Min asked where her body was and he said he didn't know, but that she had been killed by a group of heroes in the south. They had apparently overwhelmed and beheaded her but left the body behind.

Min and Ong thanks Ma Zhangfu and decide to go south in search of Lady White Blade's body. It took considerable time as they had to go south into Dhamma. In Dhamma they came upon a small village and spoke with the headman, P'Dee who told them that he'd heard rumors of a ghost in the nearby hills who killed passerby with a phantom sword strike. They asked for more information and he told them generally where the location was.

The next day they set out and when they reached a small gully filled with craggy rocks a woman appeared upon a rising stone, dressed in white. Her skin was pale and she has a bleeding slash wound across her neck. "So you've come to steal my techniques," she said. "Go back so that you can live."

Ong tried to reason with her but she flew at him in a charging sword strike, slicing him badly and forcing him to use blasting Qi strikes to keep her at bay. In the confusion, Min ran passed her and came upon a tomb entrance. Inside she found the mummified remains of a woman's body. The head and torso were separated and a technique was writing upon her skin. Not wanting to take the body, Min retreated and rejoined Ong.

They fled, but the ghostly woman chased them through the hills for nearly a day. They fled north and finally reached the Emerald Inn in safety.

LI FAN
At Stone Palace Sect, Shen Chun met with Weeping Lotus, Accountant Feng and other leaders of his sect. They discussed the situation with Southern Hill Sect.

"Now that Yellow Mantis and his wife are dead," Said Weeping Lotus, "We should treat this as having 300 individual enemies seeking revenge, rather than one group acting as a whole. I suggest we increase our security and take no chances. We should also actively seek out and kill any Southern Hill sect Disciples we find."

Shen Chun agreed and told him to make arrangements. He then said he planned to go meet with Da Mei Mei at the Relentless Corpse Caverns. He told Weeping Lotus to bring fifty men and escort him.

In the main hall, Little Bai was at his table, awaiting recruits for his "Heroic Sect". A short man, with a hat and pudgy features came, and said his name was Filial Cricket.

"Good, you want to join my sect, then answer me this; what is the color of the sun reflecting on water?"

"Red," replied Filial Cricket.

"Good, you are in. Go upstairs and find a room, you are my second chief, I will give you more information soon."

Filial Cricket bowed three times and thanked Little Bai and was escorted to a room.

Soon after that a woman arrived, a tall woman with a powerful build. She said her name was Mount Dao, and she wanted to join.

"Okay, well I just learned that the color of light on water is red, so tell me what is the meaning of red?"

"Life?" said Mount Dao.

"No," said Little Bai, "The answer is the meaning of red is to strive endlessly."

Mount Dao protested, "But that is ridiculous, you made that answer up."

They argued for some time. And Little Bai asked her why she wanted to join. She said she fought with her hands, but wanted to learn how to use a sword.

"Okay, let me try your Kung Fu," said Little Bai and got into a stance. They started to exchange blows. It was a somewhat even match at first, with her delivering some solid arm strikes. But she was also cut by Little Bai's sword.

Little Bai ended the fight once he had a sense of her skills and said "Alright, tell me the answer to this question, "Why does a stone feel the way it does?"

"Because it is dead" she replied.

"Okay, you can join. Go take a room and I will bring you information later on. You are my second chief."

Soon after that, a middle aged man dressed in red came. He said his name was Red Eagle.

"So you want to join, then answer me this;" said Little Bai, "Why do birds sing at night?"

Red Eagle gave this considerable thought, and finally he said "Because they are lonely."

Little Bai approved of this answer and instructed Red Eagle to take a room as well, telling him he was third chief of the heroic sect. Red Eagle bowed, thanked him and called Little Bai Sifu.

Little Bai then went to Scholar Shen and asked him to make three copies of his Nine Intercepting Sword Manual for the new disciples. Scholar Shen did so.

Shen Chun spoke with Little Bai and told him they were leaving in the morning to see Da Mai Mai. He also gathered people like Dim-Witted Chen for the journey. He decided to leave Weeping Lotus to oversee the sect headquarters in their absence.

The next day Little Bai presented his disciples with the Nine Intercepting Sword Manual and three swords. "Read this text and master it before I return", he said "I am going away for a few days. Do you have any questions?"

"Sifu," said Mount Dao, "I would like to accompany you on the journey."

Little Bai agreed and they set out.

On the journey, Little Bai taught Mount Dao Eyes of the Formless Interception, which she mastered. This moved her, as she didn't expect to learn a crucial technique so quickly and that night she appeared before him, kowtowing in apology.
Da Mei Mei

"I have betrayed you Sifu," she said. "I was sent here by Brother Wolf to take the Life-Keeping Stone. But you were kind to me, taught me your Kung Fu, and cannot go through with is."

"Deception is the worst thing of all," said Little Bai. "I hate deceitful people. But you have come clean and didn't betray me in the end. I still have to punish you, though."

"Yes Sifu, I will accept any punishment for my actions."

"You are no longer second chief of the sect," said Little Bai.

Mount Dai thanked him for his mercy. She then explained that her real name was Biggest Sister, and 'Mount Dao' was just a cover name. She also told him the reason she did what Brother Wolf commanded was because he had her three brothers captive and had threatened to kill them.

"This is outrageous," Said Little Bai. "We will go immediately to find your three brothers when we return to Stone Palace."

They eventually reached Relentless Corpse Sect headquarters. There Da Mei Mei greeted them. And once again it was clear that she had undergone some minor transformations mastering new Kung Fu techniques. She graciously accepted the Life-Keeping Stone and said she intended to wear it, then seek a way to absorb it into herself. She also agreed to keep her promise and marry Shen Chun.

They discussed a date for the wedding. Shen Chun asked, since it was coming soon, whether the Demon Moon would be appropriate.

"The Demon Moon is an unlucky time for humanity," She said. "Do you still feel human?"

They discussed things further, both agreeing that their past actions, made them less human than before, and that it might be good fortune for them to marry on the first day of the Demon Moon.

She asked about accommodations and Shen Chun explained they were working on a new fortress complex in Li Fan. In the mean time they would stay in Stone Palace.

She agreed, told him they would combine their sects and she would grant him use of her Corpse King Venom if he wanted.

They set out to return to Stone Palace Sect. On the way, the got lost*, then they managed to walk through an ambush site wear bandits lied in wait. Though they could sense the presence of the bandits, they were never attacked and it seemed their numbers and sect banners deterred them.

However they were not so lucky the next day when they came upon a line of thirty men blocking their path. The men shouted they wanted revenge for yellow mantis. Shen Chen stepped forward, noting that there were groups of fifty to sixty men on either side of them in the hills as well. Between Stone Palace and Relentless Corpse sect, they had about 150 men on their side, so this made them roughly equal in numbers.

"We don't have to fight. I don't want to endlessly slaughter one another," said Shen Chun.

A man stepped from the line and shouted "Blood for blood!"

With that an arrows was sent from the hills to strike Shen Chun. He used Deflecting Canopy to evade the attack. Little Bai climbed through the air to the man who fired the arrow shouting "Don't attack my friends!" and stabbed the attacker to death.

A mass battle ensued as the forces converged on them. Shen Chun instructed Dim-Witted Chen to blast the men in front and he succeeded in throwing them back with Blast of the Dragon. Da Mei Mei threw out her arms and a dark orb of energy ascended from her body into the sky. It rained tendrils upon the men on the hills, sucking the life from 50 of them in an instant.

With a huge boost to morale, Stone Palace and Relentless Corpse Sect slaughtered the remaining Southern Hill Disciples. In the end they killed them all, and lost only 25 of their own men.

When they returned to Stone Palace, Little Bai spoke again to his disciples. He gave them three precepts to follow:

  1. Take every opportunity to be heroic!
  2. Do not tolerate bad or deceitful people!
  3. Always sleep well and eat until you're full, you need that energy to fight!

Red Eagle stepped forward and said, "Sifu, I think I can help here, I own a restaurant in Gaoxing called Red Eagle Wine Shop. I can feed our sect endlessly if you need."

"Great," said Little Bai, "Let's go there immediately! Accountant Feng, tell Shen Chun I am at the Green Eagle Wine Shop if he needs me."

This is where the session ended.

*Their guides kept failing multiple Survival Rolls.
